The tires are brand new and I can barely get in the damn thing as is... But 18 months is a long time... I like to keep my tint legal (30% for front doors here), the last thing I need is more reasons to get pulled over. Will probably be the first thing I do, summer FTL. It's already got 3.73s in it and we all know 3.73s > 4.10s. If I decide to do the exhaust, it certainly makes sense to do a CAI and programmer at the same time. Probably get better gas mileage, too! The headlights are HELLA better than the ones in the Mustang. The ATV will get some better lighting before the truck does. Yellow happy face covers FTW though. Meh... I'd want the ones with the chick outline on them.
he must look like danny devito next to stumpy... BTW an off road running board will helps with the getting in and out, so Cali add that to the list
It's common for 5.4L's to sound like a diesel from the cam phasers normally. Haven't seen or heard them break yet.
Drove the truck over to my parents house today and gave it it's first bath. Decided to break out their pressure washer and see how it did with the soap attachment. It actually did fairly well for a "it doesn't have to be perfect" wash. Only used a wash mitt on the front to get off some pesky love bugs (PS: FUCK LOVE BUGS). It'd be a hell of a lot of car to wash by hand. I'd never wash the Cobra like that though. Got the front windows tinted last week. Decided to go with 20% and it actually matches the rear windows almost perfectly. Stopped by the speed shop today and they'll have a SCT programmer there for me on Monday. Figure the transmission needs all the help it can get.
My brother-in-law has the same type of truck except its all grey. He loves that thing and it will tow almost anything you got up to 7500lbs. Tony T
http://www.sctflash.com/products.php?PID=2 I ended up buying it off Amazon, it's $350 there and the speed shop wanted $380+tax: http://www.amazon.com/SCT-Performance-3015-Power-Device/dp/B002L1F08I The same programmer has generic tunes for pretty much every Ford car and truck and can load custom tunes, too. I put the generic 87 economy tune on and seriously, the difference is huge. The throttle response is much better, it shifts firmer, downshifts sooner and holds gears longer. Before, there really was no middle ground, to get any real urgency you had to go damn near WOT. Now, it's MUCH more responsive at part throttle. It can compensate for things like tire sizes and gear changes too and a ton of other stuff. I'd expect gas mileage will go up a MPG or two as well.
Took the truck into the speed shop the other day to have the spark plugs changed. Luckily they all came out easily, no breaking, so it should be good to go for quite a while now. But, there must have been some confusion at the shop... It looks like someone accidentally put a ReadyLift 2.5" leveling kit on it... Up next is getting rid of those freaking pinstripes. I've already tried like 4 different things and they are a PITA. Got the new style 4x4 stickers to go on the back as well. Haven't decided yet if I'm going to buy a new radio for the truck or pull the one out of the Cobra and put the stocker back in it. Either way, Cobra will be officially up for sale in the next few weeks. I think I'll be hanging on to the truck for a while so might as well start doing a couple things to it.
Looks like we got another truck in the family... Dad just traded in his '04 Mustang GT for a 2011 F150 XLT Supercrew 4x4 with the 5.0. Brought it home last night and holy shit is it nice... After x plan and rebates it was nearly $10k off sticker. If I end up selling the Cobra, it'll be the first time in roughly a decade that my dad has had more horsepower than me.
A friend of mine just snagged a 2011 F150 with the EcoBoost. Gotta say, it's a pretty badass ride. You hardly know you're in a truck, oddly.
Got the bed Line-X'd a few days ago, ditched the crappy plastic drop in liner so I don't have to worry about rust or anything like that. Also took it by the body shop and finally got the pinstripes taken off. They put the new 4x4 badges on too but the tan really doesn't match so I'll probably end up pulling them off. IDGAF if people think it's a 2wd. Up next is a new radio or a brush guard. I know the radio would certainly be more practical, but damn if this doesn't look awesome:
