Massive spam pruning

I just went through the database manually and marked all accounts as spam that had been missed since the beginning. I think I got rid of 200 or so accounts. WTF is up with spammers.

I may have gotten a little ban happy, so if I accidentally banned someone let me know so I can fix it.
  2. I have heard this on quite a few forums. Seems the spammers are hitting it into overdrive.

Bah, doing some more searches turned up about 500 more. Gotta go through one by one and ban them.

Wait, what--no mass ban option? Ugh.

Ya, everyone is requesting it so the guys at XenForo are aware.

    How aware is XenForo? o_o
  9. slapyo Administrator

Aware enough to know people are talking about it but not aware enough to release an upgrade with the fix yet.

couldn't you export a name of potental spam accounts and write some sort of script to enumerate through it?
  14. slapyo Administrator

I could, but I need to figure out where all the user data is stored. It's across multiple tables. I cut out a TON of users, even more today. It should be at an ok point now. We dropped from close to 1800 users to 990. I'm sure there are some spam accounts left but they haven't made any kind of post, filled out their about, homepage, or signature. Those were the main flags I was looking for.

There were lots of patterns. Names ending with 456, 312, rodio, seo ... stuff like that. Then I also looked through the list of emails that I ban to see which ones had slipped by with vBulletin.

    give me documents/requirements/test env.

Actually what would help is if we could compile a list of spam email domains. Or TLD like China (.cn) that spam a lot and would never be on this forum.
