Why does everyone seem to think the bill of rights and constitution are going to be basically destroyed

Ox, are you that blind? Seriously. Wake up and see what is going on around you, and also realize that the protestors, which I have been apart of 2 rallys so far, have been mistreated, and if you don't think it will come knocking on your door.. as in the same treatment then you seriously better think again. What I do hear from you is crass ignorance. I mean that in a friendly way. Our founding fathers warned against the government acting in this way, and in the early 1900's, around 1923 the same thing that is going on in the government now, was going on then.. which then led to laws/bills being passed that were just recently (last 20yrs) reversed which led to the same problem happening again. Study, read up on it with an open mind, the protesters are defending YOUR freedom.. just remember that the next time you spit in their face.
I wasn't gunna go here with this, but screw it here we go... This bill was JUST passed, it essentially gets rid of the 4th amendment of the Constitution. An AMERICAN CITIZEN on AMERICAN SOIL can be detained INDEFINITELY by this new bill. I don't think that's the right bill... The one in the Senate is the one with the detaining language, and it hasn't been passed yet. And Obama is threatening to veto it. While I completely agree that things are currently pretty fucked up and show no signs of getting better, at least THIS particular issue is getting enough attention that they won't be able to pass it just by hiding it in the middle of some multi-hundred page bill.

Yeah, I quoted the wrong one. I had a few different things I was reading up. It was passed through the Senate, which is bad enough. I really hope Obama does veto it, but he will veto for reasons other than the language giving the military more power. The fact remains though politicians are trying this stuff, on a fairly consistent basis & it is absolutely disgusting. This is far from an isolated incident. You're right about how they're trying to hide stuff in huge bills. The one they tried to hide this in was 926 pages.
This has been the most misguided movement ever, imo. If they (the protesters) really "got it" they'd be marching in DC & not in front of banks.
The whole movement started with justified outrage, Bankers etc who failed but got huge bonuses anyways, then were bailed out etc etc. However, it just was a downward spiral of whatever stupid idiot held a sign. The event was uncoordinated and did not have a coherent goal. Having no plan is a plan to fail.
