Socket 1366 is due to be replaced by Socket 2011 in November. And there's no reason to go with either of those unless you're planning on running triple/quad graphics cards (or dual 6990s or GTX590s).

If I were going to build a gaming machine right now, I'd build around the i5 2500k

Comes up to about $1400 for an incredibly superior system. Better, newer CPU, bigger SSD and HD and BluRay burner. You give up water cooling, some PSU wattage and 4gb of RAM (although for $50 you could get the superior Corsair 850w and another $50 would get you 16gb of RAM). That's not counting the $105 in rebates the stuff I used has on them. If you already have a copy of Win7 or can "obtain" one, there's another $100 off. I bet I could get it under $1k with a couple tweaks, combo deals and rebates.

Liquid cooling is overrated unless you're doing something fancy like cooler than ambient or are cooling EVERY component (cpu, gpu and mobo) which will let you eliminate almost all fans.

How do you guys feel about the Razor blade faptop?

MSRP of $2800? They must be joking...

You can get an Alienware with better specs for less money. And when your laptop makes Alienware look inexpensive, you're doing it wrong.

Isn't their higher end faptop, like something in the 4g range?

You can price them up over $4k if you try, but even the base specs of their 17" laptop are better than the Razer Blades.

In fact, the video card in the RB (the GT555m) is the same one used in the 14" Alienware that starts at $1200 and weighs about the same.

For less than $2k you can get the 17" Alienware with almost identical specs to the RB except with one step higher video card (GTX560m). Although it does weigh about 3lbs more.

The RB is trying to be a portable 17" gaming laptop and I don't really understand why...
