i understand the von miller thoughts, but with Williams, ayers, and dum i dont understand the move. That is unless all the speculation is true and Fox really, REALLY is going to put Dum and Ayers on the ends in a 4-3 set. I'd love to see that if we have a good couple LB's behind them so getting miller then another one with one of our 2 2nd rounders would fit quite nicely indeed. afterall Madden has said the past 2 years that DE is where dum and ayers should be
Doom on the end doesn't make sense to me and miller doesnt fit their 4-3, if that's the case they should just stock with a 3-4.
First round of the 2011 NFL draft is in the books, and holy jebus were there a few long reaches, and some relatively questionable picks this year. So biggest winners and biggest losers in your opinions. Mine: Biggest Winners of round 1: 1. Browns: trade back with Falcons and receive 2 1st's, 1 2nd, and 2 4th round selections, then give up one of there 2nd's to move up 4 spots and take the best NT in the draft. Beautiful work IMO. 2. It's a tie between the Saints and Giants: Saints: Basically gifted Cameron Jordan by Redskins and Bucs taking two DE's many (including me) believe to be behind Jordan in potential, then trade back in 4 picks later with the Patriots to take Ingram. it cost them their 2nd this year and their 1st next year. So really they only "gave up" a 2nd round pick, and swapped 1st's to take the 3rd best player on their personal draft board. http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0900...ack-into-first-round-to-draft-ingram-at-no-28. Talk about a cheap price. Giants: Made no moves but were lucky enough thanks to the early run on QB's to have Prince Amukamara just sitting there waiting at #19 (poor bucs) 3. QB's (mainly Locker and Ponder): 4 taken in the first 12 picks, only 1999 had more in the top 12 picks with 5. Biggest Losers Round 1: 1. Seahawks: They take a lower level Top 10 G/OT in James Carpenter when 2 top 5 OT/G's were still on the board (Gabe Carimi and Derek Sherrod). I have yet to see any one grade Carpenter in even the top 5 of his position, and havent seen either Carimi or Sherrod out of the top 5. 2. Falcons: Not becuase of the pick, as Julio Jones is worth the 6th pick IMO, but for what they paid. 2 1st rounds, a 2nd round and 2 4th rounders. All for a WR. A position that many thought somewhat of a luxury given their needs on Defense. They should have just sat back and let Rudolph fall into their laps IMO. Julio'll help them out i'm sure but it'll be hard to justify the compensation given for this selection if they don't make the playoffs this year... 3. It's a tie between Vikings and Cheifs: Vikings: I have no problem with Ponder taken as the 4th QB in this years class, but top 12? When no one team except MAYBE the Dolphins, or the Redskins were in the market for a QB, and both liked Locker who was already gone, in the next 8 or 9 picks behind them? I think they just were unable to trade back so figured it'd be cheaper in the long run to just take him then. At least thats what I hope happened. Overpay in salary to the player instead of getting raped with picks. Chiefs: They NEEDED a good NT for their 3-4, and traded back with the Browns who took the best NT in this draft with that selection . But ok maybe they were scared of his foot condition and didnt think he'll stay healthy enough. But why, why take the 3rd best WR on the board, whome no one though was even an early 2nd round selection with the 26th overall??? I think they ended up in the same spot the Vikings did. WR was their 2nd most needed position and they couldn't get a buyer for the 26th overall so they just went with it even though there were about 8 guys in 4 or 5 different positions that would have made a better pick here. Overall there were some serious WTF's and a few lesser eyebrow raisers, But with getting Miller 2nd overall my Broncos should have 1 of 4 guys at the top of their draft board coming into tonight, and picking 4th we have a seriously solid shot and really make this years early draft count. 1-3 are in no particular order. Any of these are the guys i'd be over joyed to see us get: 1. Martez Wilson, ILB 2. Kyle Rudolph, TE 3. Marvin Austin, DT If they are all gone, i'd like to see Fox abandon his goal of Dum on the line, and grab: 4. Da'quan Bowers, DE
The Falcants gave up the farm for Julio! Falcons give up 2011 1st, 2nd, and 4th and 2012 1st and 4th! The Chiefs pick is confusing as all hell. I'd love for the Bucs to come out of day two with any of these players Da'Quan Bowers Kyle Rudolph Aaron Williams Ros-I Dowling Martez Wilson Akeem Ayers Lance Hendricks Allen Bailey Brooks Reed Chris Carter Mason Foster
Ponder has the best chance at early success, if the Vikings go OL in the 2nd then they could be back up to a potential play off team. They are still really well built, injuries and Favre hurt them last year.
No doubt. with the Oline and offensive weapons the Vikings currently have i'd say Minnesota is/was by far the best place for any new QB to go. They have basically everything they need on offense to succeed except a QB. Ponder's the most ready to start in the NFL at the QB position in this years class IMO. He's gotta be like HELL YEAH! first round, and the Vikings!!!
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK THE BRONCOS!!! brian xanders, john fox, and Elway as a front office stooge. way to not draft needs in any way. Unless you THINK that a right guard is somehow going to become our new right tackle to protect tebows blind side, but how do you seriously pass up 10+ guys that can fill a serious need and start right away for a project OLB???? no brains at all... If you had no intentin of getting a DT in the 2nd round there is no reason to have takem miller over dareus. fucking retarted
